Chiang Mai Thai – Danforth (Toronto) Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Ambience & Service At the Danforth location of Chiang Mai, the atmosphere strikes a cozy yet vibrant balance and ideal for casual lunches or dinners. The service was consistently attentive and smooth, matching the expectations set by their elevated Thai dining reputation. Starters Thai Shrimp Rolls: Crisp and flavorful, these rolls featured plump black tiger shrimp wrapped in a delicate pastry. The tangy tamarind dipping sauce was a delightful contrast and set a great tone for the meal. Thai Fresh Rolls: Bright, fresh, and packed with tofu, avocado, carrots, cucumber, and green mango. The sweet chilli sauce complemented the lightness beautifully. Great balance and texture. Soups & Salads Tom Kha (Coconut Soup): Smooth, fragrant, and comforting with layers of lemongrass, galangal, and kaffir lime leaf which was set off nicely with mushrooms and cilantro. Thai Green Mango Salad: Crisp mango slices tossed with red onion, coriander, and spicy-sweet house dressing. The peanuts and cashews added a satisfying crunch. Well executed and refreshing. The CM Calamari features tender squid tendrils coated in a Thai‑spiced batter and fried to a crispy golden finish. Served with both sweet chilli sauce and spicy mayo, it's a flavorful and addictive opening to the meal—with just the right balance of crunch and spice. A solid 4‑star starter in both taste and presentation. Main Courses Khao Soi: Silky egg noodles in a rich, golden curry broth sprinkled with pickles, fried onions, and topped with crispy noodles—visually vibrant and very satisfying. Pad Ki Maw (Drunken Noodles): Wide, stir‑fried noodles bolstered with fresh chili, peppercorns, basil, long beans, mushrooms, and carrots—aromatic and hearty. Both dishes demonstrated bold flavours and generous portions, nicely matching the expectation built by their presentation. Highlights & Overall Impressions The consistency in presentation and flavours across dishes stood out and each dish reflected reflected the appealing plating style that Chiang Mai is known for. The menu champions classic Thai flavors with polished execution; the starters set the stage, the mains delivered rich textures and heat, and everything stayed on point for a 4‑star meal.

We had an incredible meal at Chiang Mai last night, their Khoa soi was top notch and huge and their Tom Yum Pad Thai ranks as one of the (if not the) best Pas Thai I’ve ever had. Would have been perfect scores across all three categories but I had one change I asked to be made to my meal and it didn’t happen even after the waitress double confirmed, and as they got busy they added a table to the aisle, making it hard to even get out of my seat the new table was so close.

Warning: this place does not do brunch! My friends and I had booked a reservation here specifically to try the brunch menu advertised on their website & socials, only to arrive and be told that it is only offered at their Junction and York Mills locations. We were slightly disappointed, but no big deal - we stuck around for a Thai lunch. The server seemed very apologetic and said they would mention the issue to their manager. As for the food - all around delicious! No one had any complaints. Khao Soi - tasted pretty in line with most Khao Soi I have tried, including those in Thailand (that is to say, very good). My friends said both the Pad See Ew and the Ginger Stir Fry were more flavourful than others they’ve tried. The portions were large, presentation was beautiful and the prices are quite reasonable. We really wanted to try their desserts which looked impeccable but were way too full! Will have to come back. Service was decent (it was a pretty full restaurant with just one server), but the food came out relatively quickly.

Very nice restaurant with friendly staff. The drinks took a very long time and we got both starter and main course before the drinks. Water came immediately. The food was delicious... the Pad Thai was incredibly good. I can highly recommend it.

They have authentic Thai food with fresh ingredients. Molten lava cake wasn’t the best dish to order as there was no chocolate oozing out. It was cooked a lot and felt like pre-made.

Delicious food and even better service! We really enjoyed our meal — especially the calamari and beef salad, both were packed with flavour. The chicken satay wasn’t our favourite, but the server was amazing! She took the feedback so well, passed it along to the kitchen, and even offered to bring us a new one (we were already full though haha). Super kind and attentive service all around. And of course, you can never go wrong with Thai iced tea!

I had dinner at this Chiang Mai location on August 2 at 6:30 PM, and honestly, it was a pretty disappointing experience compared to other branches I’ve been to. The place was really dark when I walked in, I even had to ask for a light just to read the menu. The staff were okay, but the overall vibe wasn’t great. The speakers kept making crackling noises and cutting in and out, and the music changed suddenly without any flow. It was kind of distracting and made it hard to relax. The food came out fast, which was good. But halfway through my fried rice, I found a hair in it. I asked for a new one, and they did bring a replacement, but at that point I didn’t really feel like eating anymore. Also, the staff behind the bar were talking loudly with each other and didn’t seem to be paying much attention to the customers. It felt a bit unprofessional and noisy. This branch could be much better with a few changes better lighting, fixed sound system, and staff who are more focused on customer service.
